But I suspect the collection noose is tightening around even more economically vulnerable debtors — like Mel, the Mother I’m trying to help. After inching out of 5 years of homelessness, she was moving in the right direction, then BOOM! Unscrupulous collection agency attacked her for relatively minor past debts. Not sure what got the Feds on her for her student loan.
