Despite the existence of enlightened people like Sean, I am continually dismazed at the number of people who don’t grasp the reality of what happens to people in poverty when disaster strikes.

Sure, a to-do list would have been handy. On the top, I’d suggest VOTE, but in NC, voters elected lawmakers that basically said to deny the reality of storms (https://www.newsweek.com/hurricane-florence-republican-lawmakers-ignored-scientists-warnings-rising-1121988)/

I’ve been working for decades to raise awareness of family/youth homelessness (www.hearus.us). I’m constantly running into people who are totally clueless about how prevalent this situation is in communities across the land.

Don’t underestimate the power of a well-written piece about how people in poverty get a bum rap. It might enlighten and inspire someone to run for office or to vote for enlightened candidates. Plenty of room for improvement!
