Memo to idiot: “hope you have a great day” fails as the ending of your 7/14/22 missive that forces tenants in your apartment complex to get rid of their pets by 8/15/22, observing that “We understand that pets can be like family…”

Yes. In addition to rent-raising assault that continues unabated across the land, property managers are targeting households with pets. This Dear tenant/s letter doesn’t specify what kind of pets. All pets. And have a great day.

Pet eviction letter

Pummeling people in poverty the new pastime of power mongers.

Unprecedented rent increases in urban, suburban, and rural communities have forced countless households to abandon ship and seek cheaper digs. Trouble is, at the bottom of the rental market is a dearth of affordable housing. Who could see that coming?

To add insult to injury, poverty-pummeled households with pets are abandoning them in record numbers. Pet rescue operations give us a preview of what will happen to people rescue efforts as more hit the streets. It gets ugly. Not enough emergency accommodations. And when pets aren’t rescued within a certain period of time, we know what happens. Wonder if that will happen to humans?

Shelters in North Carolina, Indiana, and Missouri, have also reported fewer adoptions and more surrenders. Some even fear they’ll have to euthanize pets. (MarketWatch 7/15/2022)

Humans Hitting the Streets, Too

Factor in record numbers of households being evicted or foreclosed upon, leaving these poor folk with tarnished credit and no money. They’re in the process of wearing out their welcome and “walking on eggshells” with family, friends and/or acquaintances as they desperately seek housing, which pretty much doesn’t exist, especially for those with tarnished credit and no money.

Wait until they find out that “the safety net” doesn’t exist and shelters are full, restrictive…
