‘How Bad is Family Homelessness’?

A retired university dean recently asked me about what I see as the state of family homelessness in the US. He knows of and financially supports my work with HEAR US. He’s read my memoir/social justice narrative, Dismazed and Driven — My Look at Family Homelessness in America. He wasn’t expecting a one-word answer.

My response took no time to compile:

“This is the worst I’ve seen in the 35 years in my homelessness work.”

Not negating the gallant work that activists and agency staff have plied into this nightmarish crisis during these extremely challenging times, nor dismissing the incredible efforts that parents pursue (my latest 16-min video of New Mexico families) in working their way out of the homelessness vortex, but family homelessness the worst for several reasons, including:
