Intriguing that you do what too many families don’t do—accept responsibility for your role in your son’s mental health issues. Because we stigmatize mental health, too many either deny the impact of trauma (often inadvertently) parents can inflict on children. It’s a generational reality. Insights, often too little or too late, from what I’ve seen in myself and people I’m close to, at least can provide a bit of peace of mind. Great post for your story telling and honestly!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have humane places that people could live where they could be cared for and yet have quality of life? Sounds like this state hospital at least strives towards that. Rare, I think.
