I've worked in the field of homelessness for over 35 years. Trauma has only lately been raised as one of the causes of homelessness. That is too bad, because we've (shelter staff/administrators) probably made life worse for those who have been impacted by trauma.
I've delved into the topic of trauma lately, moved by the death of a nephew and difficulties with a good friend. Of course, looking into it, I see where trauma impacts me, and have begun my healing journey.
Knowing that people experiencing homelessness have likely all had traumatic events in their lives (all of us have, I'd suspect), and this segment of the population has the least resources for addressing trauma, I'm wondering if you could suggest any sites that have good, basic info on how to at least try to self-heal? I at least feel the need to offer a life-preserver.
