It’s needle ice, appropriate name! Photo Diane Nilan

Oh, March, ya gotta love it!

My March was spent half on the road and half recovering from a crash that destroyed my camper-van which has been my home for the past 10 years. Thanks to whatever force that surrounded me, and my lightning reflexes, I managed to not T-bone the unenlightened driver that pulled a boneheaded maneuver. Neither of us were hurt.

Enough about the bad stuff. Let’s get into March’s photos!

How about that “needle ice” that has popped up around my abode when the weather is just right. For the curious, here’s what Wikipedia says about it. It’s cool!

I guess I need to ‘fess up about my photography. I’ve had fancy equipment (Canon F1 and a bunch of lenses). But I simplified for lots of reasons, now using my Apple iPhone 13. No worry about AI in my work! And I rarely edit.

The uplifting/ironic message, “You are enough,” didn’t ease my dismay over the crash. If you want to get instantly depressed, go to a lot where vehicles sit after crashes. Think of the fate that befell the drivers and passengers. Life changing. Grateful that I can write about it.

Out of Place

Out of place in TX Photo Diane Nilan

Part of my joy in traveling is quirky names of places. I’m easily amused. Texas has lots of quirky places, including Turkey, TX where I found Happy State Bank. Happy State? Or Happy State? or Happy State? I’ll let you decide. Whatever state of mind I was in as I made my way across the endless miles of TX, this helped me get to a happy state, which in TX is out of place.

The Mystery Zone

In March, right before Covid upended life for everyone in the world, I was wandering around a TX campground. I managed to catch this big-ass black bird (vulture?) scooting away from the dumpster. After the fact (as all honest photographers will admit!), I noticed the similarities between the bird’s wings and the dumpster cover. I’m easily impressed.

A Movie Title: A Drop of Water

I had to look up movie titles and was delighted to find “A Drop of Water.” I get fascinated with these macro images, but haven’t perfected the art with my iPhone.

Perfect! Now I’m caught up to April 2024, the creative Full Frame challenge!
