The moms and kids I meet in my unconventional project have really been incredible and inspiring. When I think I’ve run out of steam, they somehow know and manage to give me the boost I need. Much like your comment.
It’s not easy, struggling with poverty, trying to take good care of your kids, having a boot stomping on your neck. You have to figure a way out or it will kill you. And the trauma never leaves you. If you’re ever in the mood to watch some short videos, this is my selection — no talking heads, just those who know what it’s like to be homeless in America.
Your previous experience does leave you richer — as a human being. And kindness is something that seems more evident from those I meet who have so little. My heart has held all these courageous moms and kids, and I think they’ve done the same to me. Doesn’t get better than that!
