You nail it, IMHO, but you never specifically connect Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and childhood trauma directly. We don’t want to let him off the hook, but it is what’s behind this generational dysfunction. We need to raise awareness of the impact of trauma on childhood development. Maybe then we can work to mitigate it.
