For the past 17 years I’ve chronicled family homelessness in non-urban areas across America under my one-woman nonprofit, www.hearus.us. It’s not a popular profession. What I’ve found isn’t encouraging. But I keep trying to give voice and visibility to families I’ve met. Someone will listen and care.

Invisible Family Homelessness in DeKalb — Let’s address it!

Hidden behind the bustle of football games and fall festivals — family homelessness in DeKalb and surrounding communities. Unlike the stereotype of bedraggled grizzled men and befuddled old women, invisible family homelessness festers beneath the surface in cities and towns across America, including DeKalb.
